Are you a resident of metro Atlanta, Birmingham, or Chattanooga? Do you want to make money fast? Does creating your own daily schedule appeal to you? Are you interested in keeping your communities safe by ensuring businesses comply with alcohol and tobacco laws?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may think about becoming a Stinger with Stinger Compliance. In this blog, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about becoming a Stinger and booking your first gig!

What is a Stinger?

A Stinger is a gig worker paid by Stinger Compliance to complete short “Stings” on their clients. The Stinger will sign up to complete Stings in their local area and complete the Sting during the assigned timeframe. Once the Sting is complete, the Stinger gets paid through the Stinger Compliance portal – it’s really that easy!

So, what is a Sting, you may ask? A Sting is a compliance check paid for by owners of gas stations, restaurants, bars, country clubs, grocery stores, vape shops, and more. The owners want to know if their employees are checking IDs, following company policy, and providing good customer service. These Stings are scheduled via Stinger Compliance and made available to Stingers looking for bookings to claim.

What does a Stinger do?

A Stinger will book a Sting through the Stinger Compliance portal and arrive at the designated location during the assigned time slot. During the visit, the Stinger will order alcoholic beverages and/or request tobacco or vape products.

The primary thing Stingers do is note whether their ID was requested or not by the employee. If the employee did not request to see the Stinger’s ID, this would result in a failed Sting.

The Stinger will also pay attention to any custom survey questions that were listed by the client. These could be questions about the customer service, the cleanliness of the bathrooms, the presentation of the food, or something else noted in the survey.

Once the Sting is complete, the Stinger will fill out the survey via the Stinger Compliance portal for review by the client. This survey will provide meaningful insights into the quality of service provided at the locations in the Sting and help business owners determine the next steps for training their staff.

How many Stings can a Stinger do per day?

Stingers can complete as many Stings as they’d like, as long as they can guarantee that they’ll complete the Stings within the assigned time frame. This means that you can complete multiple bookings per day if you book your Stings in a central location.

How much do Stingers get paid per Sting?

Stinger Compliance offers three tiers of Stings – Well, Craft, and Top Shelf – which pay up to $70 for each Sting. During the Sting, a product must be purchased and will be reimbursed by Stinger Compliance. Once the Stinger has paid and completed the Sting, the receipt is attached to the survey as proof of purchase.

During onboarding, more information will be provided to ensure Stingers are getting the largest payout possible!

What makes an excellent Stinger?

Anybody can become a Stinger, as long as they are over the age of 21. To become an excellent Stinger, consider the following:

  • Book smart – Booking Stings that are closely located to one another and within a similar time frame is a good strategy to get the most money out of your Sting schedule. The more Stings you can complete, the more you get paid!

  • Preparation – Before a Sting, an excellent Stinger will review the survey assigned by the client and ensure all information requested is surveyed during the Sting. For example, if the cleanliness of the bathroom is listed in the survey, the Stinger must visit the restroom sometime during the Sting.

  • Act casual – Excellent Stingers are anonymous and are totally undetectable by employees. Think of yourself as a secret shopper and just blend in.

  • Be a Stranger – Excellent Stingers never book Stings for locations where they are a regular or are affiliated with in any way. Our Stingers must have an unbiased view at all times.

  • Don’t Be Rude – Great Stingers are kind to employees and respectful during Stings.

  • Be On Time – Stingers that are on time to Stings are excellent because they ensure Stinger Compliance is hired again by the client. A satisfied client means repeat Stings and repeat bookings for Stingers!

  • Write Thoroughly – Owners and managers want to know as much detail as possible about the results of their Sting. Excellent Stingers are able to provide great depth of information and write thorough descriptions for custom survey questions.
